Commerical Property Removals and refurbishment Case Study!
Lix Removals recently undertook a Commercial Property removals and refurbishment job. This is our case study.
We were asked to help with the stock and shop fittings removals for a shop in Market Street, Brighton. For anyone who knows the South Laines in Brighton, parking, loading in fact anything with transport can be a nightmare. Brighton Central on any morning of the week is bustling not with shoppers but with delivery vans, tradespeople, (yes.. the city doesn’t magically get stocked with drinks for the weekend by itself!!! lol), it does show you how hard people work to make this city the lovely place it is.
We arrived at Market Street to help the tenant remove all her stock and shop fittings to a warehouse in Eastbourne. This involved stacking stock into our Van, wrapping carefully all the delicate fragile Chinese Art, Jewellery and clothing and transporting it to the tenants warehouse in Eastbourne. Then we returned to pick up heavier items like the Enamel Pedicure Basin and Massage Chair which weighed a tonne- thank goodness our guys are strong.
It wasn’t great to have the added bonus of Squatters living in the old disused Starbucks Building who decided to steal 2 chairs and a box of tools, neither were the council employees particularly helpful who accused us of fly-tipping when we were carrying out instructions from the tenant, however this all was forgotten when a family asked us to pose in front of the van for pictures because they loved the cartoon houses and “Woman with a Van” slogan painted on our van and thought it was very “Brighton”- This was a brief moment of fun in 2 weeks of hard graft!
The building in question is 200 years old with timber beams and the tenant’s had been in residence for 5 years. Their contract required them to put back the building to its previous condition.
This is where our project management skills and local tradesmen contacts came in handy! After completing our removals, we organised for the building to be plastered, painted and cleaned so it looked brand new.
The Chinese client was very happy with our service and managed to leave for China on their holiday without the stress of an unfinished shop.
We packed up our tools and got ready for the next assignment, funnily enough, as we left the squatters were being evicted and in the goods that were removed were our chairs (broken!!)….
People that helped us and we highly recommend all these guys as they were amazing are:
